Pelle’s Ascona leather features on the banquette seating in Port Adelaide Office Accommodation, a next-generation office building that is setting the standard in sustainable design. Manufactured in a highly sustainable tannery and produced using water-based dyes, Ascona is a suitable leather for Green Star projects.
The six-level building developed by epc.Pacific provides ground-floor retail and a workplace for 500 government employees. It is part of the regeneration of the Port precinct, evolving it from a historic shipping and industrial harbour to a contemporary mixed-use urban area.
Walter Brooke designed an inviting work environment that references the industrial nature of the area and incorporates natural materials to warm and soften the space. Timber, brick and leather provide colour, texture and comfort against the concrete floors, columns and exposed service ducts.
Walter Brooke specified Ascona leather in Tapas to provide a luxurious finish and highly durable surface on the banquette seats. The natural Italian aniline leather has a smooth, aged effect and slight sheen, and the olive-green colour complements the timber and brick and continues the nature-inspired colour sceme.
Manufactured in a sustainable tannery and produced using water-based dyes, Ascona is an ideal choice for projects that need to deliver a high sustainability outcome, such as Port Adelaide Office Accommodation. The building is on track to meeting its targeted 5 Star NABERS energy and water ratings and 6 Star Green Star Design and As-Built Rating. It was also shortlisted for the workplace design category in the Australian Interior Design Awards 2019.
